    JANG's LEGO Reviews

I grew up in the 80s, but never had a Nintendo, until now. I take a look at LEGO's retro-licious set and demo its features & electronic Super Mario cross-play.

Those unknown grey things on the left side of the TV,are dials to adjust vertical and horizontal size. Most old televisions had these you had to use a flat head screwdriver to adjust them

If i had enough money to buy this I would, I have no real nostalgia for the old Nintendo systems or the games for those systems (my first system was a DS with New Super Mario Bros and Super Mario 64) but this is still insanely cool and I love the compatibility with the electronic Mario

I was a Nintendo superfan, so in my personal opinion it is bad that you have to pay 230 Euro for mostly the TV, in order to get the console. I would have bought it on release day if it was only the console.

I had an Atari 2600 in the early 80s that I spent way too much time playing River Raid. After that I graduated to a C-128 with a snazzy 1571 5.25" floppy drive. Those two "ports" in the back are likely horizontal and vertical alignment. Thanks for sharing!!!

This set screams to have integration with a real screen and some sort of raspberry pi or even the parts from an NES classic to play games. I fully intend on buying a second set to do just that. Something like this: https://www.inputmag.com/gaming/how-i-transformed-my-lego-nes-into-a-real-console-using-cheap-hdmi-display-nes-classic

Those two holes probably represent the vertical/horizontal sync or screen position adjuster. Perhaps even a color convergence adjuster. They are usually set inside the case so they are not easily changed.

I think these stickers are ok, for the real cartridges have stickers too. And for the colorful parts inside: ever seen how an 80s TV or such a console look inside?! A lot of green plates covered with pieces in all kind of colors. PS: I got two of the real ones...one as spare, and I rather think of buying a third one.

I am very close to that point. I thought it was pretty cool looking when I first saw it, but had no plans to get it. But then I watched this review and started asking myself, "dang that has so many cool features and looks like a really fun build, do I want this set after all?" But with the newest Star Wars wave reveal, I think I have to resist. Going to be an expensive summer as it is lol.

As someone who grew up with the original thing, I can say that this was an amazing build. I was more curious to see how they attempted to replicate the cartridge slot since it is the most unique thing about the NES. I'm even more surprised that they included the gaps for the external ports which, to my knowledge, were rarely if never used (only the Gamecube had a worldwide official external item to insert under the console). I do love the easter egg as well and the fact that the controller is one-by-one except the buttons which is expected. The TV was fun, yet I also faced the same issues regarding the mechanism. However, I must point out that my set had a missing piece, a tile for the skybox but LEGO did ship it rather quickly. It was the first, but not last time that this happened to me. But it was a great experience that easily matches up with the 1989 Batmobile. One could say that this Super Mario piece is the most unorthodox minifig ever.

TV's Grey hole guesses- "Vertical and Horizonal Hold" I think, you had to stick a screw driver in to turn them. If you messed it up it would make the picture flicker and roll across the screen.

Love seeing a new video on this build since I watched all the old ones already and I also build it myself. As a build, it's fantastic. All the mechanics coming together. And as already said earlier in the comments, the stickers are spot on, they are stickers on the real cartridge too!

I like how this looks but I was never a Nintendo fan and this doesn't appeal to me. I grew up with the original PlayStation but I don't think a set based on it wouldn't appeal to me either. Maybe it's me but replicas of real things in similar scale don't do anything for me

You could Problably paint the Mario piece to be green like the luigi sprite with no issue, if I am correct you don’t even need the 8-bit Mario piece on it for it to work, only the little clear pipe thing it pops onto.

Enjoyed your review of this set Jang! It was cool to see all the features Lego put into this set. To answer your question about the two ports on the back left side of the tv, those I believe are the horizontal and vertical adjustment screws. I remember those on those old CRT tv's.
