It’s crazy how Brady is hated for always being top dog but he was literally the biggest underdog of all time.

@Billy Bob Thats the thing though: The Patriots were able to capitalize on that help. For example, they had a historically bad division, and capitalized on it. Many other teams find themselves in similar situations, yet dont capitalize. Many other teams just shoot themselves in the foot in ways the Patriots wont.

We are going to miss Brady once next season starts. A skinny, non athletic looking 6th round pick terrorized this league for two decades. He outlasted all of his draft class, most of his “rivals” and holds so many career records for a QB. And I’m glad I was able to witness it all Edit: And he comes back after 40 days into retirement. @xMythpug I do not believe Tom Brady or those guys would be who they are without hard work. You’re talking like people are born and then they’re just great at Basketball 😂 I don’t understand why you’re so upset about encouraging people to work hard. There are varying levels of success but if you want to increase your chances of being successful do you want to be lazy? Do you want to work hard? It’s pretty obvious which is the right answer. That’s why I’m genuinely confused by what you’re even saying.
Hace 7 meses
xMythpug +1
@Zac Bennett Clone If you genuinely believe that Jordan, Kobe and Brady wouldn't be successful without their hard work then you seriously underestimate how talented those guys are. If that somehow helps you stay motivated to achieve your goals, I'm happy for you. However, it's just wrong. I don't get why you comment something like that then, though. I mean, that's like saying "Grass is green". Obviously a hard-working person usually is gonna be more successful than a lazy person, given they have the same amount of talent. Just like a more talented person usually is gonna be more successful than a less talented one, regardless of how hard they work. Also, your last sentence is precisely what I'm denying. A player could work exactly as hard as Brady and still be undrafted if he simply lacks the talent. It's all about the talent first and foremost. "People who have a similar amount of talent as Brady are usually successful" is the better sentence, in my opinion.

I saw this documentary when it first aired, and I made a point to watch it again this week when he announced his retirement. If you are a fan of multiple sports as I am, and respect and admire greatness as I do, then maybe you'll also see some of the interesting similarities I do: When a scrawny 165lb teenager named Wayne Gretzky jumped from the W.H.A to the N.H.L., the media experts and executive of established N.H.L. teams were certain he'd get murdered out there against guys who had 50lbs on him. They said he had an average shot, and wasn't a fast skater. They obviously got something wrong, and misjudged his hockey I.Q. ..... When a boy-genius named Lionel Messi left his home in Argentina to join the youth team at Barcelona F.C., he suffered from a documented growth disorder, and the team secured his rights by offering medical treatment in his package. He has spent his career looking up at giants as he sailed past and between them, but you get my point. In any sport, you can't measure true greatness with a scouting report or a combine. That's just what occurred to me this week. Please share your thoughts. Tom Brady: enjoy your retirement. Thank you for the memories. You are the GOAT.

41:18: That's the moment why he's the greatest, that exact second. This was around 10 years later than that fateful night y'know, 10 years and the guy still had that chip on his shoulder, he still felt so emotionally attached to that night, the frustrations, sadness, angriness... He had already won 3 SB at the time yet he still felt insulted, he still had to prove those people wrong, it still wasn't enough. I'm not even American and I only watch American Football when they are on the end-season and the SB of course, but still Brady is one of my favorite athletes, I always get encouraged when I think of him walking around the block in frustration back in 2000. I don't care about what anyone says, that's the greatest player of all time.

@David Kane And, tbh, I believe it's not a "Sport" in general, but just a contest of "who's the biggest thug on the field". Guys like Tom give football at least a little grace and virtue, but in general it's like wrestling with a ball. No miracle so many players suffer serious injuries - and please don't get started with the stone-age "This is a sport for REAL MEN!!" Nope, it's generally a sport for thugs. Tom Brady is a really cool exception, I guess another reason why he's widely considered the GOAT.

What I find so amazing about Brady's psyche and work ethic was when he was on his rookie contract his mentality was that of a 6th rounder who was expendable and had to earn his job every day in practice, even after winning a Superbowl. But later in his career even though he was signed as and expected to be the starter and captain of his team, he still practiced and played like he had to prove something. Unbelievable.

@Precise62 Not really true. You just can't always visually break them down as easily as speed, size, and strength as they're condition specific. In addition, that also means the result of the intangibles may not effect the stats sheet, or category that you might place an emphasis on.

Correction... "Brady built a legacy in new england, got the ring with the bucs, went for double and CAME BACK & OUT OF RETIREMENT TO MAKE IT HAPPEN AGAIN...What a great career Undisputed GOAT!!!!!" LOVE that!!! Was SO devasted to hear he'd retired at first, then, something just told me he'd NEVER stay retired...it was too weird that he'd retire now, w/the way it was handled in the media, the fact that he's now 44 and has said for YEARS he wants to play at LEAST until age 45 & then reevaluate & if he's still playing at the top of his game, (He IS!!!) then he sees NO reason not to continue and already HAS a contract that takes him to beyond age 45...it wasn't like him...& I'm blessed and privileged to have followed every minute of this amazing man's career, as a lifelong, die-hard Patriots fan!!! And to have gone to SO many of his games, it's been SO AMAZING to be able to watch him play SO much!!! I was MORE than thrilled & ECSTATIC when he did come back...he's NOT done yet...he's playing TOO Great still!!! Agree w/your whole statement, except the "Called it quits when it didn't happen" part, as Brady NEVER QUITS ANYthing!!! SO THANKFUL he knows that time is NOT NOW, & hopefully, it won't be, for SEVERAL more years...as the League will NEVER be the same w/out him...& there will NEVER be another Tom Brady...absolute, ultimate GOAT!!! Some coach said near the end that if they'd known his character they'd drafted him earlier. I don't think you'd gotten the same player, the rejection he felt slipping to 199th stayed with him and made him what he became.

Hace 7 mesesxMythpug +1

LOVE that!!! I remember watching him win game after game when he was first named starter for the Patriots. Nobody knew why he was so good. But they went on the longest win streak ever. First, he just never made mistakes. Second, he was always good at reading defenses. But really, it was his game preparation. You can't measure that in a combine.

@Delrach Dubal Nice, did he also perform at an MVP level at age 43 and 44?

Crazy because he’s also the best decision the Buccaneers ever made, nobody was calling the Bucs talented before Brady.

Well tampa cant complain about the lineage , there has been plenty of talent on the bucs thru out time since 1976 franchise.
Hace 8 mesesMAGA Productions
@dBoy Console Clips All the WR talent in the world wouldn't matter with an awful o-line not giving QB the time to throw. The difference between Brady and Winston is Brady is able to attract a bunch of veteran ring-chasers willing to take below market value contracts.
Hace 8 mesesdBoy Console Clips
@MAGA Productions The bucs had the most talent at WR compared to his other options. Tampa was also a great location for his family and he knew they had cap space when he went there

Thank you Tom for more than 22 awesome years of great memories. May you enjoy retirement with the same intensity that you showed throughout your career. I wish you good health. God speed.

"Brady would go on to win 3 superbowls" ... so funny they made this documentary about how Brady is so legendary, and he wasn't even halfway finished.

There is something similar currently airing called "Man in the Arena" going through each superbowl season. Though I think another doc should be made when its all said and done

Some coach said near the end that if they'd known his character they'd drafted him earlier. I don't think you'd gotten the same player, the rejection he felt slipping to 199th stayed with him and made him what he became.

Tom Brady retiring has the same impact as when Gretzky retired. You realize that you will never see them play again. The great ones have retired.

"A lot of people don't believe in you, its obvious with 6 other quarterbacks taken before you and pick number 199, but when I get my shot I'm going to be ready". He played with that chip on his shoulder his whole career. The goat of goats.

I love how the original episode over it says "Brady has won three super bowls" then in this version it says now six and yet they are both wrong. It's insane that he's won 7 now. Edit: Wow thanks for the likes guys and now he's retired. What a legend 👏 Edit 2: Well he's back now so we'll see what happens this season.
