Claude Monet: A collection of 1540 paintings (HD)
Description: "Claude Oscar Monet was born in Paris on November 14, 1840. Soon after, his family moved to Le Havre, where he spent his youth. His acquaintance with Eugène Boudin lead to Monet seriously pursueing his education as a painter in 1858. Boudin and Jongkind taught Monet to always work in the field in front of his motif. The following year Monet went to Paris anyway to begin academic training.
He joined the "Akademie Suisse" and joined his later fellow painters from the Impressionist group, especially when painting together "en plen air" in the forest of Fontainebleau. Their constant struggle was to have their pictures exhibited at the official "Salon de Paris", where the conservative jury mostly declined their paintings.
Because of the lack of acceptance of his artwork, Claude Monet and his small family had to live in dire poverty for many years. In 1879 his first wife Camille, with whom he had two children, died.
Monet's art had meanwhile developed from withdrawn color paintings to form an independent Impressionist style. With his famous painting "Impression: soleil levant", Claude Monet named one of the most important genres of Avant-garde art.
Some art lovers, especially the art dealer Durand-Ruel, supported him financially. Very gradually, a market developed for his pictures. In 1883 Claude Monet managed to earn enough money to move to Giverny, west of Paris, where he managed to buy the house he had been renting in 1890. He now had a place to return to after his frequent travels and the garden of his property, which he later managed to extend, provided constant inspiration for his work at home.
In 1891 Monet painted the first of his famous series: the "meules" (haystacks) were followed by pictures of poplars and the river Seine, the cathedral of Rouen, the river Thames in London and many more. His exhibitions were great successes and Monet became a celebrated artist. In 1892 he married Alice Hoschedé, who brought more children into the family.
From the turn of the century, the water lilies on the specially designed pond in Giverny and the picturesque wooden bridge in Japanese style became Monet's favorite motifs. In 1911 Alice died. In 1916, at the age of 76, Monet started his largest project: the creation of the famous wall decoration depicting the pond with the water lillies (now in Paris). In the 1920s his eyesight deteriorated and he had to have surgery, but he still did his utmost to continue painting.
Shortly before his death on December 5, 1926 Claude Monet finished his water lilly paintings. Today Claude Monet is regarded as the most well known Impressionist artist. His late work is increasingly considered to be the precursor for the abstraction of the 20th century."

He'd sometimes have several canvases going at the same time showing the same scene from the same point of view but with the light changing as the day progressed. I've always liked his stuff. He had cataracts late in his life that altered his perception of color. He was good at painting "atmosphere" too: fogginess rising off the water at sunrise, or a clear, cloudless day with bright sun and sharper focus.

I wasn't aware of the vast amount of paintings he did either. And these are only the ones we know about! They're so beautiful!

Que surpresa maravilhosa! A coleção de Monet. Amo demais!! Financeiramente, impossível ter um quadro, porém, de réplicas vou , depois da reforma de minha sala, enquadrar algumas... Essas cores pastéis me tornam , uma impressionista ... Nada entendo de artes da pintura, só sei sentir ... Monet, onde estiver... Paz e Bem!

Thank you for compiling his work . I loved it. To see it in it's entirety is so illuminating I have art books .but they only show part of his works and only what they deem to publish. I am disabled and poor and old and the likely hood I will get to all the museums in the world to see his work is slim but here you have given me a huge glimpse of his magic and consistency and why he was considered a master .

Claude Monet (1840-1926) was a founder of French Impressionist painting. He had been described as the "driving force behind impressionism". He had a clear understanding of the effects of light on the color of objects and their juxtaposition. Great video. All the slides are masterpieces. I subscribed to the channel.

When you look at a painting, you're looking through the eyes of the painter. You're seeing the people, and the world that he was living in at the time. You have a front row seat into his mind and feelings.

Thanks for your beautiful videos. - Let me suggest to spare the zoom-effect for future videos. You don't need it, because you can be sure that the beautiful images themselves do already catch the eye of the viewer. And simply displayed without any motion, they could be studied and appraised much better. Thank you!

Hello, Claude Monet. Thank you very much because I am happy to see beautiful paintings drawn by you. It made me feel love and live my life in this aesthetic world. Whenever I look at your paintings beside the beach, I tend to go back to my youth when I was confident in my work. Especially your paintings give me a lot of vigor to live actively and positively, feeling beautiful things to the last cell of my entire body. So thank you again, Claude Monet as a Korean who loves fine art and a variety of sketches as well.

Thank you again, for a wonderful journey into the world of an artist of such diversity. As a different Christmas and deep dark of winter descends upon the farm my husband and I have loved for forty years--as well as the Long Beach Island, NJ "neck of the woods" we enjoy--your visual and musical collection is a wonderful experience to be enjoyed in the warm and cozy comfort of our home...I can almost feel the "crunch" of the snow and the moods of the skies and the loneliness of the wide rural fields and the "warmth" of the sun in some...and the comfort of companionship in others...such a lovely blending of seasons...and the sense of the beauty of every season...

I love impressionism. Many painters after this first generation of artists felt like this movement had some huge limits, and that one of these was the fact that those works were just able to catch a moment, an impression, an ephemeral flash. I believe, instead, that these paintings are so wonderful because they represent reality in its eternal and harmonic flow. nothing is frozen, nothing has boundaries. there's just vibrating life and beauty.

I remember first learning about Monet in art history during my freshman year of high school. I was instantly amazed by his skill and passion and he very quickly earned a spot in my heart as one of my favorite painters. I remember reading a quote from him and it has stuck with me since: "Every day I discover more and more beautiful things. It’s enough to drive one mad. I have such a desire to do everything, my head is bursting with it.". I love how passionate he was with his art and how he still continued to paint even though his eyes were giving out. If you compare some of his earlier works to his later works, you can see how bad his vision became. It's a bittersweet feeling and I wish I could experience it for the first time again.
Hace 6 mesesThe Noisy Spectator
I am glad his "vision" of the world was not spoiled by the brutal devastation of the first world war! Think how terrible it would be for your life to end during that time, so it would be your final outlook on the world and its future! I am glad he lived into the mid 1920's, but not the Great Depression and the Second World War. 😌

There's really a difference between people who can just draw and people who can draw but are also artists.
Hace 2 añosJames Ritchie
How do you know that? Can you draw? What qualifies you to say who is or is not an artist? All who draw are artists. Some are better than others, but more often than not, some are just luckier than others. To be a remembered, famous artist just takes support from the right few people in positions of authority. Sometimes government authority, sometimes heads of museums, sometimes rich patronage. This doesn't mean the lucky ones aren't extremely talented, but for every one of them a hundred equally talented artist live and die with no one seeing their work, and it often disappears without a trace. This is another bit of luck for the chosen few. Their art survives, often uncared for and unknown until the right person says "This is true art", and all others have to listen or admit they don't know what great art is.
