Please, take your salvation seriously. If you haven't read at least three books of the Bible yet, please consider today. The first book of each testament and one you chose yourself, I'd say that's an important minimum amount for a mustard seed of faith, with a bit of forgiveness like Jesus Christ taught. Please, look inside. Find the light. Inside reflects outside. Love is God. God is love. Jesus Christ is Lord,

I like stories like these that reminds us what an awful person Vader truly is. I feel that a lot of SW media romanticizes him as a warrior with dignity and nobility, but the truth is that this is a person who immediately after accepting the dark side went on to murder children without remorse. Yes, we know that Vader had the potential for good inside him all along, but I'm sure that was true for Hitler as well. A monster is a monster even if he has other sides to him as well.

Such a narrow viewpoint. Monsters are monsters but perhaps the "good" people are too. And create them from ignorance. "In my point of view the jedi are evil." Vader just doesn't pretend he isn't. The jedi do. It's the lack of accountability that bothers people. But has Vader ever denied it?

@Stanko Barabata the way i see it anakin and vader are two different personalities, two different parts of anakin. anakin, created vader, who in turn "destroyed" anakin skywalker. vader himself, never was redeemed. ever. the shit he did was pretty fucking evil. anakin however, was redeemed in the Force because he did technically fulfill the prophecy and bring balance to the Force...at the time. anakin did seem to briefly come back in short flashes when faced with people from his past, but vader always returned. that is, until luke confronted him. it was at that point that anakin started fighting back within himself, and eventually won out. i dont think he ever wanted redemption, but the fact luke forgave him and accepted him for all his shortcomings, meant that anakin could at least die in peace, which may be all you need to become one with the Force. also..as the chosen one, there's no way he doesnt become a force ghost/projection regardless of the atrocities he committed. he's too stronk.

Hace 25 días
Stanko Barabata +1
Stanko Barabata

@Sastry VNK But redemption doesn't just wash away past sins, especially ones like his. Vader's whole schtick is that he is vile to the core, he's supposed to be the complete opposite of Anakin in many ways. Whereas they're both rash, angry (Vader even more so than Anakin) and ruthless, Anakin was always compassionate and his anger came from a place of love. Vader was just brutal. He slaughtered whoever displeased him, he cared little for his subordinates or anyone else for that matter before Luke turned up, and he hated all his foes with a burning passion. If he wasn't practically a crippled cyborg who could barely run, he'd be the ultimate Sith Warrior, he'd have beaten Palpy into submission or killed him long ago. Anakin was strong, but Vader was so strong that only Luke, his own descendant, managed to step up to him, and even then Vader only lost because he truly started to care for his own Son and didn't fight him, since Luke never was as good as Anakin/Vader in a lightsaber fight. Luke was always more of a sage than a fighter.

I love this story because we watch a soldier idolising Vader. And we, the audience, know he is wrong to believe Vader is a hero. Yet it's funny how this story of Vader's biggest admirer, finally understanding that Vader is a monster, is also the one that in the finale shows us Vader being surprisingly kind. And I'm not talking about those moments when he picks Hawk up. The fact that in the end, Vader lets him live a peaceful life, was a huge twist for me. He did in the end betray Vader, yet Vader let him go? He will go out of his way to slaughter the crippled, this is NOT beneath him. Treachery is the one thing Vader never forgives. Yet he allows the one person he seemed to trust, to live.

I think that it's most likely the fact that he probably DIDN'T see it as a betrayal, but more of a realization that Hawk "didn't have the stomach" to kill wounded soldiers, even if they ARE separatists. Or possibly, what Hawk managed to say without knowing it managed to resonate enough with Anakin to earn him some leeway after he left the army.

@WhatTheHeckMon surviving is simply the act of staying alive. Animals survive, but they spend their existence in constant struggle. Homeless people survive, but they have lost any reasonable amount of security or stability. To live is to be more than just alive. To pursue a life, have meaningful goals of your future and you’re relationships and reach them, that is living. To live is to do more than just exist.

This is how I imagined the scene after you said Vader contemplating who to kill next and he turns around to face Hawk. Timestamp: 12:23 Vader stands in silence for what seems like minutes before sheathing his lightsaber. A sigh of relief is let out not only from the remaining wounded soldiers but from Hawk as well. Vader swiftly turns around to face him. As Vader approaches, Hawk still has his hand reached out as if he is to guide Vader away from the darkness and rage that has completely taken over him. To his surprise it wasn’t his hand that connected with his hand. No. Vader places his lightsaber into it. The weapon of choice. The murder weapon of dozens of innocent women and children just moments before. Still hot to the touch. No sooner than Hawk realized his own emotions the saber raises a foot in the air from his hands… as well as the remaining wounded soldiers. He stares up and meets Vader’s gaze as if he can feel his eyes piercing through his helmet, those dark crimson eyes starring into his, seemingly looking back and forth between his left and right eye. Vader baritone voice vibrates through Hawks entire body. “Do you feel the Power of the Darkside? Do you feel anger? Has the valor of these pitiful souls…” Vader takes a single step closer as if intrigued yet disgusted by what he sees before him “…inspired you?” With every ounce left in him he is able to mutter “No, sir.” “Good.” And Vader snaps the neck of every remaining life in the room by using the force. Not moving a single muscle. Just as quickly as their lifeless bodies hit the floor Vader reclaims his saber from Hawk’s trembling hand. Without a second breath he walks past him and exits the room as if he is nothing more than paint on the wall. Dull. Broken. And Cold.

I like to imagine that Vader could have easily went after him after he had left the army, but simply let him live out his remaining life out of respect, maybe realizing that the way the Empire does things was simply too much for some people. Vader had feelings and could do a lot of things like having padawans etc. The reason he didn't want to do these things is that he knew that if Emperor would find out about it he would order Vader to kill everything he "loved". That's the tragic behind Vader, he can't share his love because everyone is dying because of it. (sorry about my English, not my native language)

I think Vader probably saw him as a true friend, and it made him start doubting what hes doing, but figured hes too far along now(besides, palpatine could beat him still) to be redeemed and thought the best course of action is just to go their seperate ways. And you had seen it to be true that day. You had fought for your city, your fellow people, and you had lost. And yet, with your one limb left, you prop yourself up in defiance of the god-like man who could kill you in a heartbeat. You know you're going to die, you knew you never had a chance as soon as the shields went down, maybe even before that. And so you stand.

The story of how Hawk tried to save his battalion from the ambush is similar to a real story of a Roman centurion happened in the forests of Helvetia, nowadays Switzerland. Apparently the centurion was advancing into enemy territory with his soldiers but noticed that they were going to fall into an ambush. Noticing this, he tried to warn his commander but he did not listen at him, so he took a desperate decision, slaying the commander with his sword and ordering the men to get into defensive positions: at that point the barbarians attacked, but thanks to the readiness of the centurion the battle was won by the legion, and he was awarded with the corona obsidionalis (siege crown) one of the greatest military awards of all times. The main difference is of course the outcome of the battle itself...

Darth Vader has "friends". Yes, he will always prioritize his success and mission over any friends but he still has them. He likes people with the same goals as he does and the same commitments. We see this with how he interacts with Tarkin. I'm sure we won't see him hit the clubs after work with his boys but I'm sure he there are people who he has positive relationships with in the military and political contacts. And yes, I'm sure he would kill even these people if they were standing in the way of his mission or personal gain, but he won't go out of his way to kill someone who works well with him and gets the job done. He'd probably even save them because he values them more alive than dead and likely even respects an elite few of his "friends."

Not only are the panels from the comic/book shown in this video incredibly clear, crisp, and full of great colors, the narration of this video is great, too! Edit: I’m not at all well-versed in _Star Wars: Legends_ , nor am I a big fan of it, but I enjoyed this video because of the way it was structured, scripted, and narrated. What a well put together video. Good stuff.

Wtf? A Star Wars character that actually lived a relatively good life sorrounded by those they love? Imposible.

As others have noted, it is interesting that Vader let Hock leave the Empire's service and live out the rest of his life in peace.

So Dope!! I think that Vader even letting him go like that, is a testament to his confliction he's always had and that Luke was able to see and feel.

Tbh i still cant belive that a trained jedi would turn to the dark side and do all of these things... after watching clone wars and seen the movies i was legit confused on how such a great person who did great things can turn into something like this... everytime i watched good parts of anakin in clone wars i started to remember the monster he would soon become

For anyone wondering, the clone trooper Hock fought had tattoos on his back that translate to "Kaddak" from aurebesh. This was his name and I belive he served in the 41st Elite Corps.

I think it's interesting toss a point out that later started off as a warrior and a crazy sith Lord hunting down people left and right and turned in more into the big boss directing and being in charge of everything. So I guess maybe that's why he loved the warrior side of Vader but not the business / leader side of him

That is a true soldier like Rex. Fighting until the war is over having Vader as a friend and then ending his military career and retiring. What a soldier. He lived to fight another. And all the way.

@Uloola Saying "stop" isn't the same as saying "no". Two very different things. "No" is deciding for Vader. Good way to get sliced. "Stop" is an instruction. He's more likely to listen then. It's those that "deny" Vader that get killed. Hm. I think I just hit on a good point here actually.

@Hello There it does when the character is involved in literally every single significant event and mingles with the *fucking emperor* as a lowly clone trooper. Clones were cannon fodder, this character is a self insert, a marty stu.

I wonder how could it be allowed to just leave the Empire military like that. I know that he chose to get conscripted again, but that was because they forgot about him. Surprising that the Empire would grant their Stormtroopers the freedom to leave the service when they wanted.

@Jarack25 I still think he achieved it because Vader didn't kill him and his family. However small, no matter what Vader says, Anakin was still there. You can't start good and then turn all evil. If Anakin was truly dead, he would have wiped his boot after using it to crush his neck then throw sand in his family's face while he slowly tortures them. He did none of this, and the dude spoke out against the order or whatever.
