I make an ''8 Ball'' out of solid Stainless Steel and Brass

  • Publicado el Hace un año

I had this idea since I recently discovered how to easily make balls on the milling machine and lathe. As I currently don't know what to restore next, I decided to make the 8 ball. It was a very cool little project. Very accurate work was needed to get all six individual pieces fit together with no gaps. The hardest part of this project was filming the last few shots, because it is so super shiny now and reflects everything. I really like how it turned out and it will be a nice decoration piece to look at.
I hope you like my work and the video.

Regardless whether it's "perfectly" spherical or practical for actual pool, it looks absolutely amazing, and it would look incredible on some kind of stand.

For pool completely useless, because center of mass is obviously displaced from the center of the ball. But does anybody really play pool with iron balls?

The attention to detail when filming is just fantastic. I wonder how many times for example it took for him to spin the ball at the end so that the '8' finished in a central position in front of the camera. Wonderful stuff.

I am damn impressed with this one. I suspect you left out some of the surface finishing, not to hide it, just because it is not terribly interesting. But I know what goes into something like that. Your margins are insanely tight. I cannot detect any filler of any kind. On the finished product it is nearly impossible to identify the part off point, this certainly must be the ultimate judge of a part? I presume there is also not the slightest speck of a tail stock live center mark. Bravo! Incredible work!

Amazing grace! How sweet the sound That saved a wretch like me! I once was lost, but now am found; Was blind, but now I see. Through many dangers, toils and snares, I have already come; ’Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far, And grace will lead me home. The Lord has promised good to me, His Word my hope secures; He will my Shield and Portion be, As long as life endures. Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail, And mortal life shall cease, I shall possess, within the veil, A life of joy and peace. The earth shall soon dissolve like snow, The sun forbear to shine; But God, who called me here below, Will be forever mine. When we’ve been there ten thousand years, Bright shining as the sun, We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise Than when we’d first begun.

Awesome job. As a pool player, my only nit to pick is that the "8" should be on opposite sides of the ball. The top of the 8 is smaller than the bottom of the 8, which is correct, just need to extend it completely thru the ball to the other side.
