Dont'a Hightower doesn't get enough credit. In my opinion he had arguably the two biggest plays in both this Superbowl with the strip sack, and the Superbowl 49 with the stop on Marshawn Lynch on the goal line. Gotta give props to a guy who can come in clutch at such critical moments.

Recall this ~ When TB12 set up the last 2 point conversion, Tom new the Falcons were lined up wrong, And he went for it, knowing they would get a penalty regardless of Danny scoring the touchdown, which is incredible genius on TB12's part ~ either way, he had that play in the bag !! To tie the game !!

This was the greatest competition I’ve seen in sports history. I’ve never seen a team summon the level of drive required to overcome such a deficit. And I’ve never seen anything like Tom Brady and his precision at the end of this game. It boggles the mind now just as much as it did then.

I still come back and watch this game every year. Watching it live, from the start of the comeback, it was the most intense 20+ minutes in sports history. 2 x 2pt conversions.. no room for error, absolute guts, performance under pressure, It was incredible. Its still hard to believe we pulled this off. Legendary.

@lesmo whomever even so with all that.... he could come into a new team with a new coach and new teammates in a different league, at 43 years old, and still win the superbowl his first year. He's still the goat if not 2nd best. Wayyy better than either Manning bro or Rodgers or Maholmes aka MaFLOP cuz he chokes. Brady is the goat even though that tuck rule was BS.... I'm from S.F. so I'm always niners or Raiders.

@Starcraft Player I remember the tuck rule game and the Raiders being cheated out of a trip to the SB and all of the other bs that ensued to make Brady a manufactured GOAT. You need a hero.

Ya.... I remember telling my dad... " If they come back from this it will be Brady's signature moment and hel pass Montana for the goat " At that time it was like 28-12 and I was thinking it's almost impossible mathematically but if they do it he will pass Montana.... Then he went to like 5 more superbowls after this loool. Or was it 4? Idk but it's unbelievable that he did all that from age 39-44. That's incredible to win 2 Superbowls after 40 years old. Only Brady could do it.

That smile at 30:17 after the Falcons had to punt tells you all you need to know. Down 8 points with only a few minutes left in the biggest game of all-time, and Brady's smiling because he knows he just got a chance to win the game. That's when it was all over.

@Ravens#52RayLewis - Spot on.... In SB42, the Patriots should never have been in the position where a "lucky" catch made the difference. That game wasn't really won on the Tyree catch. It was lost on a few sloppy plays from NE earlier in the game. Sad, because that '07 New England team was *possibly* the most talented NFL team of all time.

I honestly think Brady gets off in some weird way when he's losing by a lot, or counted out because he can then tap into that chip on his shoulder he came into the NFL with. He really is at his best when all the pressure is against him. Down 24-0 against the Broncos, down 24-14 to the Seahawks, down 28-3 to the Falcons, down 24-14 against the Jags, converted 3 3rd and longs against the Chiefs at their house to lead the game winning drive.

Hace 2 años

@Dark Wolf Nah it was Arian's offense for like 12-13 games, then Brady mixed it up a little by merging Arian's deep ball offense with his/Josh McDaniel's offense when they got AB to go into the slot. Fournette has become a much better pass catcher out of the backfield too as a result. It's still mostly Arians offense tho because Tom is throwing the ball 40+ times a game, even when they're up multiple possession's and that's something Bill would never allow Tom to do unless the game became a shootout

Hace 8 meses
Plazik

@tim Skwirz No doubt. During the draft I was kind of stunned everyone let Mac fall to the Pats at 15 because he's the perfect QB for what Bill/Josh want to do. He's playing so good already that a lot of people are already saying he's at his ceiling which is ridiculous. The guy doesn't even have a legit number 1 option on the outside although Bourne and Henry have exceeded expectations a bit

They didn't have a dog in the fight but they were routing the Patriots on with me. They left at the start of the 3rd cause they got bored and said it's over. They went to get ice cream, I said I'll stay. They came back and seen it was OT and were stunned. Asked me what happen I said stfu and sit, we got the coin toss, and when white scored an eruption came upon us, and we got the cops called. "We had people that always tried to steal signals. Stealing someone's signals was a part of the game, and everyone attempted to do that." Bill Cowher "When I came into the NFL, back in 1989, I talked to a Kansas City scout and he said, 'Here's what we do, we videotape the opposing team's signals and then we sync it up with the game film.' So I did it." Jimmy Johnson

Hace 4 años
White Mamba
White Mamba

I'm an Eagles fan, I lost to Tom Brady and the Pats in that SB during the "spy gate" time. I could care less about that, that wasn't the reason we lost. The reason we lost is because of execution, and one side had Tom Brady and our side had Mcnab who choked and couldn't get it done, it's as simple as that. Not to mention ex Eagle Jeff Blake admitted that removing air from footballs "I'm just going to let the cat of the bag, every team does it, every game, it has been since I played". "I don't know what the big deal is. It's not something that's not been done for 20 years" Or that Ron Jaworski admitted his back up would spy on defensive signals and drop flags to tip off the defensive play. Spy Gate has ALWAYS been done in the NFL and was never illegal until 2006 when they decided to single out the Pats for it. Execution is all that matters in the end.

Hace 4 años
White Mamba
White Mamba

And your worried about the "spy gate" that so many coaches admitted to doing and teams were doing, hell I saw teams doing it when I played in little league and my father coached and we saw it all. Which really wasn't understood at all by most idiot fans. Please, what kind of cheating are they doing this year? Or last year? Under such a microscope what could they possibly be doing? Patriots aren't even in the listed top 20 of the most scandelous, cheating teams, just in the media era, when Goodell was trying to take down Brady's legacy because it was going to outshine Mannings who is in the "NFL first family", people just find a source of hate on success and greatness. Why didn't anyone make a big deal about Mannings steoroid use? Or the coaches that admitted to doing spy gate? How come they didn't make a big deal about Cam Newton and the Panthers, and the Vikings using the heaters to warm the balls up(which is as illegal as the ball pressure), but made a big deal about ball pressure in a BLOW OUT game. What about Terry Bradshaw who use to take the balls out the boxes and rough them up to how he liked them then put them back. Where is the big deal about Jerry Rice using stick um? And Joe Montana defending Brady saying his 49ers teams cheated many different ways, literally saying "if you ain't cheating, you ain't trying". Listen to his interview about it, no one is lying, I know sports and the history. What about when the 49ers use to fake injuries when they didn't have time outs? Or the Denver Broncos which is number one in cheating as a franchise? I can go on, and on, and on, but we want to talk about ball pressure and filming in the "restricted zone".

You are a liar! Ball pressure was not the only cheating the Patriots have done.

"If you ain't cheating you ain't trying"-Joe Montana Then that would mean there is basically no greatness at all because nearly every team has done things way worse and more significant then some ball pressure bullshit that is so stupid that even Montana himself admitted to his team cheating multiple ways and stated that to even care that much about some ball pressure is stupidity.

Brady always puts his team ahead in the 4th quarter of the Super Bowl. Sometimes the defense doesn’t hold. Sometimes it does. TB12 is at his best in pressure moments - laser focus - pressure that makes most other QBs fold. In this case, it took Brady till OT to put his team ahead - but he did his job.

That was pretty amazing. Been following horse racing since the 1960s and this falls in line with that exhausted champions at the top of the stretch who gets passed, but somehow finds the will to dig in, come back and win. I’ve seen it….great athletes coming back when defeat looks eminent. It’s amazing to watch no matter what sport it is.

I remember being a 14 Year Old Freshman in High School and the Patriots were 2 touchdown underdogs against The Rams..everyone thought they were a total joke and were going to get clowned in the Super Bowl. Now i'm 30 years old and The Patriots are the most prestigious name and symbol in Football. Tom Brady is a legend.

Greatness period. 10 SB appearances, back to back SB winner, 7 rings, 1st SB OT and won the toss, cut the largest deficit in SB history, won a SB at home, etc etc etc. TB12 is gonna have a hallway named after him in Canton and it wouldnt suprise me if they changed the SB MVP award to the Tom Brady award.

@Brando H what? Everyone said he'd get killed when he went to Tampa. Winston did, 4/5 lineman were there. They drafted a rookie. The like looks great because of Brady. He sets protections and gets the ball out the fastest in the NFL every year. It's like he found a cheat code, they can't get you if you don't have the ball.

It's a very good thing he's had the luxury of staying in the pocket with great protection his whole career. Any time he's ever had to make a play outside of it, it's resulted in pure embarrassment.

@Kevin Bias I'd say the Sox winning was the greatest series comeback, but not single event. This is football. There is no games 4-7. You only get 1 shot. They were getting blown out with 17 minutes left. That's like being down 3-0 and losing game 4 by 5 runs and somehow coming back to win the game and then having games 5, 6, and 7 all be shutouts.

I've been alive long enough to see some great quarterbacks in my time. And I gotta say, even as a Packer fan, that Brady is the best ever. The fact that he and his team pulled this off, without their best offensive weapon, is just incredible. I'll always give my respect to the Patriots. They are the ideal franchise.

Vontray Lockett... Brees Is Stud no doubt bout that . I remember back when he was on the Chargers I knew even then that He was special. Having said all that - He ain’t Brady - you say “numbers don’t lie “ - Sure Drew got some stats but playing QB is ALL bout W’s ... TB12 wit his 6SBs( & counting ) 9SB appearances , Brady has played in 17 NFL seasons 12 Xs he’s had his Team in the AFC Championship gm( 8 Straight & counting ) ... Brady plays outdoors in the Northeast Not in the comforts of a Dome - I could go on & on & on but why bother
